53 CBI officers to investigate Manipur violence, 29 women in the team

CBI has prepared a list of 53 officers to investigate Manipur violence cases. These include 29 women. According to officials, this is the first mobilization of its kind, in which such a large number of women officers have been deployed in the service simultaneously. The CBI is probing 17 cases related to the Manipur violence. These also include two cases related to alleged sexual harassment of women.
The violence between the Kuki and Meitei communities in Manipur since May 3 has resulted in over 160 deaths. The Center has told the Supreme Court that 6523 FIRs have been registered in Manipur. Of these, 11 cases are related to violence against women and children.
