Sanju Samson: Asia Cup 2023 is to be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka from 30 August. The BCCI has announced a 17-member squad for the Asia Cup, while one player has been kept as a backup. At the same time, injured player KL Rahul has also been given a place in the team. Please tell that, KL Rahul is not fully fit and due to this BCCI has kept wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson in backup.
Sanju Samson can replace KL Rahul!
Team India has to play its first match in Asia Cup with neighboring country Pakistan on 2nd September. While after this Team India has to play its second match with Nepal. Injured player KL Rahul has returned in the Asia Cup. But in the press conference, the team’s chief selector Ajit Agarkar has told that, KL Rahul will not be able to play in the opening matches of the Asia Cup as it will take some more time for him to be fully fit. On the other hand, if KL Rahul is not fit, then Sanju Samson can be entered in the team in place of KL Rahul.
Sanju Samson will join the team as a backup.
Let us tell you that Sanju Samson is currently on a tour of Ireland where Team India is playing a three-match T20 series. Sanju Samson played a brilliant inning in the second T20 match and scored 40 runs in 26 balls. While the BCCI has selected a 17-member squad for the Asia Cup, in which wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson has been kept as a backup player.
This has happened because, KL Rahul is not fully fit and if KL Rahul is ruled out of Asia Cup due to injury, Sanju Samson will be included in his place. At the same time, apart from this, Ishaan Kishan has also been given a place in the team as a wicket-keeper batsman.
