Reliance shares fall, Sensex-Nifty close on red mark

Stock Market Closing on 24 August 2023: Thursday’s trading session was very disappointing for the investors of the Indian stock market. The market opened with a huge boom in the morning. There was a good boom in the market during the morning trading. But as the day progressed, the market declined due to return profit booking. Sensex slipped 650 points from its highest level and Nifty nearly 200 points. At the end of today’s trade, the BSE Sensex fell 181 points to close at 65,252. While the Nifty closed at 19,386 points with a fall of 57.30 points.

In today’s trade, shares of Banking, IT, FMCG, sectors closed with losses, while Oil & Gas, Auto, Healthcare, Consumer Durables, Energy, Metal and Pharma closed with losses. In today’s trade, midcap stocks saw gains, while smallcap stocks declined.

In today’s trade, investors’ wealth declined due to profit booking in the market. Market capitalization of companies listed on BSE is Rs. 308.64 lakh crore as compared to Rs. 308.96 lakh crores. That is, investors have suffered a loss of Rs 32,000 crore in today’s business.

Indus Bank 1.72%, Asian Paint 1.68%, Infosys 1.19%, UltraTech Cement 0.65%, Nestle 0.39%, Axis Bank 0.33%, ICICI Bank 0.28%, HUL 0.24%, Bajaj Finance 0.23%, Bharti While Reliance closed down 1.76 per cent, Power Grid 1.32 per cent, JSW Steel 1.19 per cent, Larsen 1.10 per cent, HCL Tech 0.92 per cent.

How did the morning start?

The domestic market gained momentum on strong global cues. Thursday was the fourth consecutive day of buying in the stock market. Major indices of the market are trading in the green mark. The BSE Sensex was trading at 65,700 with a gain of over 250 points.

Today, at the time of opening the stock market, the BSE Sensex opened at 65,722, up 289.21 points or 0.44 per cent. Apart from this, the NSE’s Nifty opened at 19,535, up 91.15 points, or 0.47 percent. IT stocks led the market’s strength. Infosys shares including Tech Mahindra, Wipro are the biggest gainers in the Sensex. On the other hand, Jio Financial has engaged in lower circuit even today and the price has come down by Rs.215. Earlier, Indian markets closed with gains for the third consecutive day on Wednesday. The BSE Sensex closed at 65433, up 213 points.
