The minister alleges that on the instructions of the Chief Secretary, Finance Secretary Ashish Verma has stopped all the funds of the Jal Board since the month of August. Despite the written order of the Finance Minister, the funds have not been released yet by the Finance Secretary.

The Jal Board does not have money even for the salaries of its employees and routine work. All the contractors have refused to work. In the coming days, there may be severe water shortage, dirty water and sewer overflow in many areas. This is an emergency like situation, the Lieutenant Governor should immediately intervene in this matter.

‘Delhi Jal Board owes Rs 910 crore’

Water Minister Atishi has informed the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi that Delhi Jal Board has an outstanding of Rs 910 crore, which is not being released by the Finance Department. According to sources, the Water Minister said that the Finance Department of Delhi, which regularly releases installments to the Delhi Jal Board, received various objections and questions from the Finance/Planning departments, which were answered as soon as possible, but Still the water board’s money was stopped.

‘Finance Sachin refused to attend the meeting’

Water Minister Atishi said that he called a meeting as Finance Minister on November 15 to resolve this matter, but Finance Secretary Ashish Chandra Verma refused to attend it. Delhi Jal Board had asked to release its installments in August 2023, but this has not been done yet. On November 17, Delhi Jal Board Contractor Welfare Association clearly said that they will stop the work.

Atishi demanded suspension of Finance Secretary Ashish Chandra Verma and disciplinary action against him. Along with this, he has also demanded that the dues of Delhi Jal Board should be released as soon as possible.
