UrbanRisers Hyderabad beat Southern Superstars by 13 runs


Ranchi, 22 November (HS). UrbanRisers Hyderabad defeated Team Southern Superstars by 13 runs in a thrilling match in the third match of the Legends League Cricket (LLC) being played at the GSCA International Stadium on Tuesday night. In this match, Hyderabad batted first and scored 156 runs, in reply Southern team was bundled out for 143 runs.

In this match, Southern Superstars captain Ross Taylor won the toss and decided to field first. In the sixth and opening over of the innings of Pawan Negi, the openers – Don Smith and Martin Guptill tried to increase the run pace by scoring 20 runs. Razzaq showed charismatic bowling in the last fourth over of his spell and dismissed Dion Smith (15) and Gurkeerat Singh Mann (0) on consecutive balls, taking the score to 50 runs for 2 wickets.

With a total team score of 73 and in the tenth over of the innings, Hameed Hasan provided big relief to his camp by bowling dangerous looking Martin Guptill 46. After this, in the next over, Sri Lankan bowler Dilshan Munaweera created problems for UrbanRisers by LBWing Peter Terego (17). Soon Hasan took the wicket of Suresh Raina (10) in his third over and sent half the opposition team back to the pavilion for just 90 runs. From here Yogesh Nagar and Stuart Binny made a partnership of 63 runs and tried to get the team out of the crisis.

Hameed, who was bowling his last over in the 18th over of the innings, not only ended the partnership by dismissing Binny (23) but also sent back new batsman Amit Ponikar (0) without opening the account in the very next ball.

After this, Suranga Lakmal also ended his spell by dismissing two consecutive batsmen – Tino Best (1) and Chris Poffu (0). Pawan Negi ended the innings of Yogesh Nagar (40) and bundled out UrbanRisers Hyderabad for 156 runs.

For Southern, Hasan took 4 wickets, Abdur Razzaq and Suranga Lakmal took two wickets each.

Chasing the target, Southern Superstars got off to a disappointing start as their top order – Upal Tharanga (5), Jesse Ryder (5) and Shreevats Goswami (18) returned to the pavilion at the score of 53 runs by the end of the first powerplay.

After this, Pragyan Ojha dismissed captain Ross Taylor (12) and reduced Southern’s score to 77 runs for 4 wickets. After this, top scorer Dilshan Munaweera (34) was bowled by Pofu and half of the Southern team returned to the pavilion for only 86 runs.

After this, Paunikar increased the problems for the team by running out Andre McCarthy (7). Manvinder Bisla and Rajesh Bishnoi were still giving hope to the team by making a partnership of 20 runs when Rajesh Bishnoi (11) was out LBW by Pawan Suyal. In the very next over, Manvinder Bisla (18) became the victim of Peter Trego and the score was 123/8.

Southern Superstars were all out for 143 runs in 19.2 overs with Pawan Negi (10) and Hameed Hasan (0) bowling out the ball. Pawan Suyal took maximum three wickets while Chris Poffu and Peter Trego took two wickets each.
